France may have been on your radar for this year’s summer vacation, but due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions, that is not possible. Why not travel to New Orleans for a French flavored vacation? There are restrictions, but as long as you follow the rules you can enjoy all the New Orleans has to offer. Restaurants and cafes are open:

Café du Monde, 800 Decatur Street, the place to go for coffee and beignets, is open 24 hours.
Broussard’s, 819 Conti Street, French-Creole cuisine, for brunch or dinner.
Museums, and other indoor attractions are open, with limited capacity and staggered reservations.
The Presbytere, 751 Chartres Street, an architecturally important building in the French Quarter.

The New Orleans Jazz Museum, 400 Esplanade Avenue, dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history of jazz music.

Walking and bike tours are available, but limited to 14 people so reservations are highly recommended. Outdoor live music is permitted with the gathering limited to 50 people.

Jackson Square, facing the Mississippi River and surrounded by historical buildings, is a place to gather and enjoy the open-air artist colony.

Reducing Risks During of Summer Holiday Travel

The July 4th weekend celebrations were tempered by the lessons learned from Covid-19 compliance challenges we experienced during the Memorial Day weekend activities. This holiday weekend seemed to usher in a new dynamic for beaches, parks, bars, outdoor clubs, restaurants and travel with mixed messages from community leaders. Airlines began to focus on adding more flights both domestically and internationally; some started filling all seats on planes.

Aids to safe travel provided by our Greeters

The holiday uptick in the passenger activity at Newark (EWR) airport, a key international travel hub in the New York region, was partially the result of some international flights being allowed to depart for the first time in month. Some flights required the aid of foreign consulate officials verifying Covid-19 test results, nurses taking temperatures and special transit entry authorization for certain countries before passengers are allowed to complete check in.

As travel continues to evolve during the remainder of this summer season, please remember to seek the latest information from the CDC and to refer to the various travel advisories from local and international organizations such as AAA, the airlines, municipal websites, Consulate or Embassy websites and the State Department. Continue to follow guidelines like wearing a face mask in public places, practicing proper hygiene by washing hands frequently and using sanitizer and keeping six feet apart when communicating or waiting in line for various services. Enjoy the remainder of the summer; it’s never too early to plan a safe and fun-filled Labor Day weekend for you and your friends & family. If you choose to travel by train or by air, let us help you with greeter service & travel aids! Happy Safe Summer Fun!

How to Travel Safely in our New Environment

June 24, 2020

As air travel continues to resume in the U.S. and worldwide, Air General Traveler Services remains committed to providing a “touchless” experience for our passengers to the extent possible.

Although the FAA has not mandated the use of protective face coverings during flights, individual airlines are issuing guidelines for passengers. Some airlines such as American, United and Delta are now requiring passengers to wear face coverings during their flights. Certain airports are requiring that face masks be worn in the terminals, and the rules for going through TSA security have been adjusted to require less touching of document. Our Greeters will make every attempt to inform the passengers prior to their flights of any restrictions that are in place at their location.

We highly recommend to our passengers that they follow the Center for Disease Control guidance on travel.

This information is updated daily so we would advise that you check with your Air Carrier and the CDC immediately before commencing travel. Air General Greeters will wear face masks, report their health status prior to arriving at the airport or train station, and will provide hand sanitizers or guide you to hand sanitizer stations.
